Flyday Friday: Nájera

Good morning, my luvs!

Finally, after like a gazillion promises here´s a short travel post for today to share with you. :)

Aside from the world famous paella, Spain´s gastronomy wouldn´t be complete without it´s wines. In fact, one of the most sought after region for wine connaisseurs in the world is the La Rioja region. These pics were taken sometime in September(last year, eeep!) when the harvest season began. We visited a touristy town called Nájera in La Rioja. Here´s what I wore:

A visit to one of La Rioja´s pueblos, isn´t complete without stopping along the roadside to look at the grapes and a sneaky pic of the ripened grapes ready for harvesting. It´s quite tempting to plop a few on my mouth but they´re strict in here so photos only please and no grape tasting!

Do you see that red cliff on the photo? This place was once used as a hiding place during the Moor invasion and wine cellar by the people a long time ago. In fact, the old houses here were constructed by excavating through the rocks and that´s how the town was built. Nájera came from the Arabic word ¨Naxara¨ meaning ¨built between the rocks¨.

I´m ending this post with a costumary door photo of the Church of the Holy Cross( Sta. Cruz). You know me and doors, we bond really well especially if the church is almost 400 years old!

I hope you enjoyed this short post. It´s been in my draft folder since last year and it´s about time to finally launch it since I might be going back to Najera tomorrow for it´s 12th Puncho(Tapa) Contest which has been going on for a few days now. If you happen to visit La Rioja don´t forget to visit this place, it´s worth it!

Til the next post. :)

Hugs,

Che
